>Pitt joins Affleck in Cogan’s Trade

>Brad Pitt will star in Andrew Dominik’s adaptation of Cogan’s Trade, according to Scene Louisiana.

While there were rumours in November last year of Pitt reuniting with the director of The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and his co-star in that film, Casey Affleck, Scene confirms that he will play the titular role of Jackie Cogan, with production beginning in New Orleans in March.

The film is an adaptation of a George V. Higgins novel of the same name. Cogan is “a professional enforcer who investigates a heist that takes place during a high stakes poker game under protection of the mob.” Originally a Boston set story, it is a curious choice to take the production of the film to New Orleans.

The most interesting part of this news however is the roll call of names being thrown around for supporting roles. Rumoured to be joining Pitt and Affleck are Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Bill Murray, Mark Ruffalo, Sam Rockwell and Zoe Saldana. Um, yes please! The likelihood of all or even some of these stars signing on are slim but can you imagine the extravaganza that Cogan’s Trade would be with this much talent on board? Our fingers and toes will be crossed for further casting news.
