>Monsters, Inc. sequel actually a prequel?

>Ooh la la, AICN have pointed out a juicy rumour on the loose and even if we can’t be sure it’s true we can be sure it’s French. That’s right the “rumeur” (does it sound more credible in Français?) is that Pixar’s follow-up to Monsters Inc, operating under the working title Monsters Inc 2, will in fact be a prequel.

According to French message board Disney Central Plaza and animation website Animatie, the prequel will cover the back story of “Bob” (that should be ‘Mike’) and Sully, focusing on how they met at the “University of Fear” and went from rivals to life long friends.

Billy Crystal and John Goodman will return as the voices for Mike and Sully and Mary Gibbs is rumoured to come back as Boo (although we have no idea what role she would play in a prequel). Pete Docter (who helmed the original with David Silverman) will not direct Monsters, Inc. 2.

The film is currently set for a November 2012 release in the US and a December 2012 release in the UK. No Australian release date has yet been indicated but the film is only just in pre-production. More news as it unfolds folks – French or otherwise.
