>Baz Luhrmann dropping The Great Gatsby?

>Baz Luhrmann is a mysterious fig. After spending months in rehearsals with actors Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan for a new film adaptation of The Great Gatsby, he has recently revealed that he may not go ahead with the project at all.

Vulture caught up with Luhrmann at the DGA awards, where he shared the fact he has to “make a decision in three days’ time … whether to do it or not”. Considering the guy owns the rights to the project, you would think he would have already made his mind up.

Anyway, the DGA awards were three days ago, so we should have an announcement – yea or nay – very soon.

Discuss: Are audiences dodging a bullet if Luhrmann drops the project, or were you excited to see him work his magic on The Great Gatsby?
