>How To Train Your Dragon trumps Toy Story 3 at Annie Awards

>DreamWorks’ hit film How to Train Your Dragon has won Best Animated Feature at the 38th International Animated Film Society’s Annie Awards. The film had 15 nominations overall and was clearly the favourite to beat out Toy Story 3, but not without controversy.

Some might argue that How to Train Your Dragon IS the better film but it should be noted that Disney has boycotted the awards stating complaints against the voting process as well as having an issue with DreamWorks paying for a membership while Disney does not.

This issue has been around for a few years; most notably the year Pixar’s WALL-E lost to DreamWorks’ Kung Fu Panda, which had many crying foul.

While this year Disney Pixar garnered seven nominations, and even managed to win Best Animated Short Subject for Day & Night, it is obscenely clear just how much Disney was being snubbed at these awards.

That said, How to Train Your Dragon was a great film from the somewhat unreliable DreamWorks studio and deserves each award it received, whether it rightfully earned them or not.

Discuss: Which film do you think will win Best Animated Feature at the Oscars? Could DreamWorks’ repeat the upset?

  1. >Many cried foul when Kung Fu Panda lost to WALL-E? Aside from Jack Black, who?!?While both wonderful movies, WALL-E has so many layers. The opening twenty minutes are unlike anything released by an animation studio in the last twenty years, maybe longer. Funny, poignant and a true classic, WALL-E deserved to beat Kung Fu Panda.I'm sure Toy Story 3 will win Best Animated film at this year's Oscars. It has been nominated for Best Picture, so that's a big plus for the film. I think it also gives the academy the opportunity to reward the Toy Story trilogy. Both previous installments were released before the Best Animated film category was introduced.

  2. >Clayton dude read again."Many cried foul when Kung Fu Panda lost to WALL-E? Aside from Jack Black, who?!?"You got it backwards!!!Wall-e lost to KFP.

  3. >They both had the best story! This two movies are best movies.
