Carell to play Streep’s therapist in Great Hope Springs

Steve Carell is gearing up to book some big-time movie roles after leaving The Office at the end of this season. According to Deadline, he is in negotiations to star as a marriage therapist in the upcoming comedy Great Hope Springs.

Meryl Streep is already signed on to star as one-half of a married couple who attend Carrell’s therapy sessions in the hopes of rediscovering the spark in their loveless marriage.

David Frankel – who previously directed Streep to an Oscar nomination in The Devil Wears Prada – will helm.

Discuss: Here’s hoping this is Carell’s chance to play a not-so-wacky/stupid character. He has great range, and I’d hate to see him typecast as Michael Scott after leaving The Office. What are your thoughts on his career prospects?
