Toy Story short to play before The Muppets

You haven’t seen the last of Woody and Buzz, with Variety reporting a new Toy Story short will precede Jason Segel’s upcoming film The Muppets.

This news comes after the confirmation that a short called Toy Story Hawaiian Vacation will play before Cars 2 during its theatrical release later this year.

Disney Pixar has a tradition of pumping out thoroughly enjoyable shorts before each of their feature releases. Last year, Day & Night accompanied the highly anticipated Toy Story 3 and is nominated for Best Animated Short Film at the Academy Awards, along with winning for Best Short Film at this year’s Annie Awards.

With such quality in past short films we can only expect great things from the two promised Toy Story shorts heading to our cinema screens this year. It’s an interesting move playing a Pixar short in front of a non-Pixar feature, but we’re so excited to see the return of Woody and Buzz that we’ll give them the benefit of the doubt that it will, as usual, blow us away.

Discuss: Are you happy to see the return of Toy Story characters, or do you wish they were left alone after the perfect wrap-up of TS3?

  1. >Love how an acronym becomes synonomous with a movie. T2…TS3. What…there's a Cars 2? Hope it doesn't have any American sentimentality nonsense. What..a new Muppets movie? Do modern kids even know the Muppets? This is either going to be very good or very bad.

  2. >Yeah, modern kids know and love the Muppets. :-)Knowing Pixar, the new shorts, and Cars 2 will have fantastic stories, and be brilliantly executed.

  3. >I must agree that this is the best kids movie ever.
