Michael Bay to produce Zombies vs. Robots

It started with Monsters vs. Aliens; a cool-sounding film that primarily appealed to teenage boys. Then, we learnt of the comic adaptation Cowboys and Aliens. That was followed by Cowboys and Ninjas and Vikings. Hollywood then turned their eyes to the world of robots, green lighting How To Survive a Robot Uprising, Real Steel and Robopocalypse. Today, we report the latest evolution in ultra-high concept cinema targeted at undiscriminating young men: Zombies vs. Robots.

According to Deadline, Sony has purchased the rights to the Ashley Wood/Chris Ryall comic of the same name, with the intention of developing a script called Inherit the Earth. Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes shingle will co-produce.

The film follows the last survivor on Earth – a young girl – who is protected by a group of robots from a zombie horde.

Discuss: According to that Deadline article, there is another film called World War Robot being developed by Jerry Bruckheimer. Seriously, is this getting out of hand?
