Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark scores Australian release

We’ve been looking forward to this news since we saw the trailer for the Guillermo Del Toro written/produced chiller Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark back in August of 2010. Australian distributor Hopscotch have revealed that they will distribute the film across the nation in August 2011.

The Troy Nixey-directed pic stars the great Bailee Madison as a young girl who moves in with her father (Guy Pearce) and his girlfriend (Katie Holmes), only to discover that a bunch of creatures also share their abode.

A remake of the 1973 TV-movie of the same name, Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark was filmed in Melbourne, and written by Del Toro and Matthew Robbins.

Discuss: Glad to finally see Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark heading to Australian cinemas?
