Andy Samberg, Donald Glover join Aubrey Plaza in The Hand Job

Up-and-coming comic actors Andy Samberg (Saturday Night Live), Donald Glover (Community), Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development) , Mae Whitman (also AD) and Johnny Simmons (Scott Pilgrim) are set to join Aubrey Plaza in The Hand Job, The Playlist reports.

Saturday Night Live’s Bill Hader divulged details about the upcoming project – which will be written and directed by his wife and fellow comedienne Maggie Carey – in a recent interview to promote Greg Mottola’s latest film Paul.

With financing unsecured, details surrounding the film are scarce. What we do know is that the deadpan Aubrey Plaza will star. Plaza is best known for her role in the hit television series Parks and Recreation (If you haven’t seen this add it to your queue right now, we’ll wait…) but has also popped up in the last few years in various supporting roles, from Scott Pilgrim vs The World to Judd Apatow’s Funny People. Though her angle is often the dry, witty, bemused Gen Y character there’s no denying she has a presence on screen.

Hader reveals the script “killed during a reading at the Austin Film Festival” and has been tailored to suit Plaza’s aesthetics. He goes on to give a rundown of the film saying,

“It’s about her playing a type-A, studious girl who graduates high school and hasn’t done anything with a guy. The summer before college she decides that she has to find out how to do everything in order to be properly prepared. She’s being the aggressor and is very straight-forward about it, like ‘Okay, so I’m going to give you a hand-job now.’ And the guys are very taken aback about it, especially her straight-laced friends.”

Wow, as The Playlist suggests, it sounds like it will be a racy cross between ‘must lose virginity before college film’ Superbad and 2010’s surprise comedy hit Easy A. With the aforementioned cast we’re sure this will make many people’s future anticipated films list.

Discuss: Which of these young comic actors do you think are ready to break out into the big time?
