There was a time when we all thought J.J. Abrams‘ Super 8 would be a sort-of-sequel to Cloverfield, or at least a spin-off from the same universe. Abrams debunked that fairly quickly, but today we have learnt that Cloverfield 2 is still very much a possibility.
Cloverfield and Let Me In director Matt Reeves told Total Film, “you are going to see it – we just don’t know when [laughs].”
According to Reeves, original screenwriter Drew Goddard (now working on Steven Spielberg’s Robopocalypse) and producer Abrams are all on board for the sequel.
“However, the three of us have been so busy that getting the right idea together has been taking a long time,” he added.
Reeves suggested that although the trio enjoyed working with the real-time, first-person POV perspective in the first film, they are questioning its use in a second instalment.
