David Slade confirms his involvement in Daredevil

It was revealed last week that David Slade – director of the incredible Hard Candy and abominable The Twilight Saga: Eclipse – was set to direct a new Daredevil flick for 20th Century Fox.

Slade took to his Twitter account to confirm his involvement in the project (as well as debunk a couple of rumours regarding other films):

Forgot to look at the internet for a few weeks and its a litany of false (and not so far off) rumours…So without breaking confidentiality, yes Daredevil, we have a great outline for a very strong character driven take on Mr Matt Murdock…It will bare no relation to the previous Daredevil movie in any way. We are at early planning stages and have not yet discussed any cast.”

Slade’s claim that his Daredevil will bear no relation to the much-mocked 2003 film starring Ben Affleck challenges Variety‘s original report that the film will not be a reboot, but rather a continuation of the Daredevil saga.

He also revealed that “there have been no discussions” about The Wolverine, a film he was once attached to, and recently lost director Darren Aronofsky.

More exciting news from his Twitter: he directed an upcoming episode of Breaking Bad! So, at least we have that!

Discuss: Do you think Slade is a good fit for either Marvel character?
