New Justice League movie in the works; will feature rebooted Batman

New Warner Bros studio president Jeff Robinov has revealed his plans to finally bring DC’s Justice League to the big screen in 2013. This means we’ll see a new Batman in cinemas one year after Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises arrives.

In a profile piece on the L.A. Times, Robinov revealed that Nolan’s third Batman film, Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot and a Justice League pic would be his immediate priorities. There were no further details on the long-belated Justice League project – – featuring the DC superheroes as a united force – leaving many to question veracity of Robinov’s claims.

The L.A. Times today followed it up with a piece on Hero Complex, in which Robinov expanded on his plans, saying that a new JL script was in the works and that Nolan would be producing. He also shared that Flash and Wonder Woman scripts were also currently being written.

A Justice League film was previously in the works late 2007, with George Miller set to direct and The Social Network’s Armie Hammer cast as Batman. The project died following the Writers Guild of America strike, which coincided with the immense success of Nolan’s conflicting superhero flick The Dark Knight.

So, this is very early, but there’s really no higher source for this information than the studio head. Could it all just be posturing for a new president with something to prove? We’ll soon see…

Discuss: Who would you like to see as the new Batman?
