I’m sure the children of the world will disagree with me, but I’ve never found the Madagascar films all that entertaining. They keep making money though, so they’ll be getting another sequel. This time however, the (admittedly, very funny) penguin sidekicks will be in the limelight.
THR has the scoop that Megamind screenwriters Alan J. Schoolcraft and Brent Simons have been hired by DreamWorks to pen the penguin-prioritised spinoff.
Details are light at this stage, but you can expect Skipper, Kowalski, Private and Rico to sign up for the project (who, frankly, have been slumming it in direct-to-DVD features for the last few years).
No news if Madagascar 3 (co-penned by Noah Baumbach) is still in development, but it seems likely.
