Trailer Debut: The Hangover Part II

The feature trailer for The Hangover Part II has debuted online, although we have a sneaking suspicion it’s simply the trailer for the first one with some CGI shots of Thailand snuck into the background.

Ever since Kevin McCallister’s parents accidentally lost their son in New York – less than two years after absentmindedly leaving him Home Alone – audiences have been asked to politely endure the often unlikely machinations that would allow a box-office-busting scenario in a film to replicate itself in all subsequent sequels.

That seems the case here with The Hangover Part II, in which “The Wolfpack” of Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms) and Alan (Zach Galifianakis) once again have their memories accidentally erased and lose a human being during a particularly debauched bachelor party. The most significant change here is that the film takes place in Thailand rather than Las Vegas. Oh, and instead of a baby, the gang is this time stuck with a monkey (which, admittedly, is funnier).

Check out the trailer and share your thoughts below:

I’m not as big a fan of The Hangover as many, many others undoubtedly are, but I did enjoy the first film and am looking forward to seeing what they come up with for the sequel. That being said, I hope that the trailer is emphasising the callbacks to the original more than the film actually will (some of the first flick’s lines have been copied and pasted here, as if they were timeless catchphrases).

The Hangover Part II, directed by Todd Phillips, arrives in Australian cinemas May 26, 2011.
