Ryan Gosling in talks for The Lone Ranger

Ryan Gosling is in talks to join Johnny Depp in Disney’s The Lone Ranger, reports The Wrap.

Though it’s too early to confirm, as Gosling’s schedule may prohibit him from joining the film, the prospect of him alongside Depp on the big screen is just a bit too much for this lass to take.

It was confirmed last November that Depp had signed on to the Gore Verbiniski directed reboot of the masked Texas Ranger who appeared in radio serials, television shows, comic books and movies from 1933 onwards.

Depp is set to play Tonto, which leaves the role of The Lone Ranger open for Gosling to claim what is so rightfully his – we’ll give you a moment to image him atop his trusty stead calling out “Hi-Yo-Silver!”

Interestingly the L.A. Times quoted Verbiniski saying,

“The only version of ‘The Lone Ranger’ I’m interested in doing is ‘Don Quixote’ told from Sancho Panza’s point of view… And hence I was honest early on with Johnny that Tonto is the part. We’re not going to do it [straight], everyone knows that story. I don’t want to tell that story.”

Though Gosling would in fact be taking the supporting role, the Depp-Gosling on screen duo is still something we’d very much like to see.

Gosling will be filming the Logan’s Run remake later this year, which would be his primary conflict for filming, though Verbiniski was quoted as saying production on Lone Ranger wouldn’t start until 2012, with a 2014 release date … that’s just a little too far away for our liking.
