Justin Kurzel’s Snowtown has been selected for Cannes Critics’ Week, where it will compete for the Critics’ Week Grand Prize as well as the prestigious Camera d’Or.
The Aussie film depicts the Snowtown murders orchestrated by John Bunting, and stars Daniel Henshall and Lucas Pittaway.
Kurzel is eligible for the Camera d’Or, awarded only to first-time filmmakers. It’s the same prize Warwick Thornton won for Samson and Delilah back in 2009. Esteemed South Korean director Bong Joon-ho will chair the Camera d’Or jury.
