First it was Viggo Mortensen. Then Australia’s own Hugh Jackman. Now, two more Aussies are competing for the lead role opposite Kristen Stewart in Snow White in The Huntsman.
Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Joel Edgerton (Animal Kingdom) are both in contention to star as The Huntsman in Rupert Sanders’ upcoming take on the classic fable.
According to Deadline, Hemsworth is the front runner, although it is unknown how clear his schedule will be considering The Avengers just started shooting.
Edgerton meanwhile might star in Kathryn Bigelow’s likely-to-be-fast-tracked Kill Bin Laden, so it is unknown whether he’ll be too busy in the coming months.
Meanwhile, Tarsem Singh‘s The Brothers Grimm: Snow White, starring Lily Collins as Snow, Armie Hammer as Prince Andrew and Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen, remains in production. Although it’s likely both are too far along to pull out now, it will be interesting to see which one hits cinemas first.
