Trailer Debut: The Trip

Plot? Who needs it when you’ve got the endlessly entertaining Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon swapping insults whilst impersonating celebs in a variety of English restaurants? The trailer for Michael Winterbottom’s The Trip has debuted online, capitalising on the stars’ uncanny impressions of Michael Caine, Woody Allen and Al Pacino among others.

The hilarious Coogan (I’m Alan Partridge, 24 Hour Party People) and Brydon (Gavin and Stacy) play fictionalised versions of themselves – just as they did in Winterbottom’s A Cock and Bull Story – who go on a road trip and enjoy a bunch of gourmet meals on the dime of newspaper The Observer.

The Trip originally aired in the UK as a six-part series on BBC2. Those 30 minute episodes have been edited into a 112 minute film for international theatrical release.

You likely saw the brilliant clip of Coogan and Brydon’s duelling Michael Caine impressions on YouTube last year. Check out the trailer below for more wonderful footage.

Head over to Apple to see it in HD.

The Trip arrives in Australian cinemas June 30, 2011.
