Wes Bentley joins Hunger Games

Wes Bentley has signed on to Gary Ross’ adaptation of The Hunger Games to play Seneca Crane, the head Gamesmaker of the 74th Hunger Games.

The news of Bentley joining the highly anticipated film – which already has Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth onboard – brings some excitement after a slew of news about unknown actors scoring unnamed tribute roles this past week.

Over at the official Hunger Games Facebook page, announcements were made that Samuel Tan and Mackenzie Lintz are Tribute Girl and Boy from District 8, Sam Ly and Leigha Hancock are Tribute Boy and Girl from District 7, and Ashton Moio and Kara Petersen are Tribute Boy and Girl from District 6.

There are only three districts left to cast: unnamed tributes from Districts 9 and 10, and Cato and Clove (yes, named tributes hallelujah!) from District 2.

Bentley’s role in the film will be small, so it is curious as to why he would take such a minor part … it could have something to do with the lack of being in anything remotely successful since he starred in the Oscar winning film American Beauty.

Discuss: Glad to see Bentley score a role in something/anything?
