Michael Fassbender to star in Danny Boyle’s Trances

It’s an exciting time for cinema when each week Michael Fassbender is revealed to be attached to another excellent sounding project. The Irishman is now linked to Danny Boyle‘s upcoming art heist flick, Trances.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fassbender is in talks to star as the leader of a gang of thieves who decides to hit an auction house for one giant score. The requisite ‘spanner in the works’ comes when the auction house employee lending a hand suffers an unfortunate bout of amnesia, and forgets the location of the targeted painting. Enter a hypnotist to unlock his memories. OK, that last bit sounds a bit lame.

Boyle’s flick will be a remake of a 2003 British picture directed by Joe Ahearne. Christian Colson (Slumdog Millionaire) will produce, and the film will begin shooting later this year, before Boyle moves on to the 2012 London Olympics, where he will act as creative director. Trances will be edited after the Summer Games have concluded.

Discuss: Keen to see Fassbender play a charming rogue? Just kidding; of course you are…
