Summer Coda director playing Mine Games

Aussie director Richard Gray – who made his feature film debut last year with the thoughtful, sunburnt Summer Coda – is set to switch gears with his follow up Mine Games.

Variety reports that Gray will helm the genre thriller, which follows a group of vacationing friends who happen upon an abandoned mine and discover – thanks to a time-looping-complication – one of them will be responsible for the death of all the others.

Mine Games was co-written by Gray and Ross McQueen. In an email to Quickflix, Gray described the project as having “a Deliverance meets Lord of the Flies feel to it”.

When we spoke to the director ahead of the release of Summer Coda, he revealed that he had a number of projects in the pipeline, including a romantic comedy called Good Vibrations, a crime thriller and a comic book movie. These will take a backseat to the U.S. based Mine Games, which begins preproduction in June.
