Chris Hemsworth (Thor) has scored the leading role opposite Kristen Stewart in Universal’s upcoming Snow White and the Huntsman, Deadline reports. We’ll leave it to your imagination as to which character each actor will play.
A couple weeks back it was reported that Hemsworth was competing with fellow Aussie Joel Edgerton for the highly coveted role (which had already been turned down by Viggo Mortensen and Hugh Jackman).
Edgerton dropped out of the running to star in Kathryn Bigelow’s Kill Bin Laden, leaving Hemsworth the lead contender – not a bad scenario for Universal to find themselves in, considering he is the star of one of the biggest hits of the year.
Rupert Sanders will direct the adaptation of the classic fable, with Charlize Theron also attached as the Evil Queen.
Still no news on the status of Tarsem Singh’s The Brothers Grimm: Snow White, starring Lily Collins as Snow, Armie Hammer as Prince Andrew and Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen.
