Teaser Debut: Happy Feet Two

The teaser trailer for Happy Feet Two has debuted online. As if you hadn’t already assumed as much, it features a bunch of rapping penguins.

Back in 2006, director George Miller‘s Happy Feet became a surprise box office success and wound up beating Pixar’s Cars to the Best Animated Feature Oscar at the Academy Awards.

Although the song-and-dance sequences in the original were indeed spectacular – and the character designs adorable! – the final act veered off into an unpleasant, pandering diatribe that felt more like a demented fever dream than the conclusion to an adorable penguin musical. Hopefully the sequel will have more dancing and less lecturing.

Elijah Wood and Robin Williams return to give voice to director Miller’s toe-tapping penguins. Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Hank Azaria and Sofia Vergara also join the cast.

Check out the teaser in HD over at Apple.

Happy Feet Two arrives in Australian cinemas December 26, 2011.

Discuss: Glad to see Happy Feet score a sequel?

  1. No. I don’t see the appeal in this or the first one at all. A whole lot of penguins dancing on an iceberg…meh!
