If you had trouble imagining Tom Cruise as a hard-living rocknrolla in Adam Shankman‘s upcoming musical adaptation of Rock of Ages, let the below picture fill in the gaps.
Convinced?
Hmm.
Cruise stars in Rock of Ages as Stacee Jaxx, a debauched 1980s rock star. Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Diego Boneta, Bryan Cranston, Malin Akerman and Julianne Hough also appear in the film.
Having seen the stage show I am still not convinced of Mr Cruise’s ability to play this role, I’ll need to see some footage I think … it could also have something to do with the fact that I cannot stand Tom Cruise … maybe that’s a problem 🙂
Anyone who is unsure of Tom’s ability to “play this role” should only look at his vast catalogue of performances in movies of all different types of genres. Everyone was so up in arms when they heard he was going to play Lestat in IWAV and he pulled out one of the performances of his career! Add to that his roles in Born on the Fourth of July, Magnolia, A Few Good Men, Minority Report & Jerry Maguire, to name a FEW, and there really is no question that he has the talent and dedication to pull off this role. I’m not particularly a fan of TC, despite what I’ve written above, and I cringe at the thought of the media spectacle he became not so long ago – but to question his acting chops is just foolish. He will nail this, of that I have no doubt.
well i don’t normally like Tom but OMG that pic is HOT HOT HOT!!!!!!
how photoshopped is this photo hes more like Ozzy osbourne than stacy jaxx. Having seen the musical 3 times I cant see how he can do that part.
I’M PRETTY MUCH CONVINCED CORS I DON’T BELIEVE THAT GUYS DOES ANYTHING HALF COCKED HE’S QUIET THE PRO
Never been a huge fan of TC even before all the scientology, couch jumping stuff but I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, he certainly looks the part, I also had a new respect for him after of all things not one of his “blockbusters’ but the Tropic Thunder cameo. He was so funny, gross and had the ability to ham it up and even laugh at himself I think this showed his acting range was broader than I expected.
