A bunch of our favourite character actors are in talks to star as dwarves in Rupert Sanders’ Snow White and the Huntsman – although not as the dwarves we know and love.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ian McShane will play dwarf leader Caesar. HeatVision, meanwhile, have the scoop that Eddie Izzard, Bob Hoskins, Toby Jones, Stephen Graham and Eddie Marsan are all in negotiations to join McShane as Snow’s teensy companions.
Izzard will reportedly play the burly Tiberius, and Jones is pipped to play the shy Claudius.
So, yeah, it looks like they’re veering away from the classic characters of Sleepy, Bashful etc.
In case you were confused which Snow White movie we’re talking about, it’s the one with Kristen Stewart as Snow White, Chris Hemsworth as The Huntsman and Charlize Theron as the evil stepmother.
Discuss: What do you think about this revisionist take on Snow White?
What revisionist take on Snow White? Looks more like, to me, they have gone back to the original fairy tale. The Disney version, Grumpy, sneezy et al was the revisionist take on the Snow White story.
The new versions sounds like a welcome return to the inherent darkness of the original and in fact all of Grimm’s versions of folk tales.
