Earlier in the week it was announced that Warren Beatty would write, produce, direct and star in a brand new movie after a decade away from the limelight. Deadline are reporting that the project will be based on the life of Howard Hughes; a topic Beatty has been eager to tackle since the late 1960s.
The Deadline piece says Beatty will star as Hughes, and will focus specifically on a time in his life when the old, eccentric billionaire had an affair with a younger woman (of course).
He is meeting with Andrew Garfield, Alec Baldwin, Shia LaBeouf, Jack Nicholson, Evan Rachel Wood, Rooney Mara and his own wife Annette Bening for roles in the ensemble feature.
Martin Scorsese previously brought Hughes’ early days to the big screen in 2004’s The Aviator. Christopher Nolan was planning to make his own HH biopic after wrapping The Dark Knight Rises.
Discuss: Glad to see Beatty finally get this project off the ground?
