Ron Howard takes on Spy vs Spy

Ron Howard is set to bring the Mad magazine comic strip Spy vs Spy to the big screen, according to Deadline.

The popular director will team with his Imagine Entertainment partner Brian Grazer and producer David Koepp on the film for Warner Brothers. The screenplay will be written by John Kamps, a writer with a limited resume including family films The Borrowers and Zathura: A Space Adventure, as well as the Ricky Gervais comedy Ghost Town.

The film will follow two warring spies in what can be assumed to be a physical comedy full of hijinks and explosions. There’s no word yet on possible favourites to embody the famous black and white spies, though the final film is likely to bear little resemblance to the much recognised comic characters. After all, it would be hard to find two actors whose noses cover their entire face.
