Trailer Debut: Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol

The first teaser trailer for Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol has debuted online, featuring Tom Cruise once again doing the impossible. The question is: does ‘the impossible’ include resurrecting the M:I franchise?

Although Mission Impossible 3 was far from a disappointment (it’s widely considered to be the best of the trilogy), the film hardly set the box office ablaze. To combat Cruise’s waning star power, Jeremy Renner has been brought in to co-star, and take over the lead role in future instalments.

Frankly, Ghost Protocol looks pretty great. Director Brad Bird (The Incredibles) knows his way around an action sequence, and the trailer gives us a nice glimpse at some of the flick’s set-pieces (including a nutso climbing scene on the 828-metre-high Burj Khalifa in Dubai).

Check out the trailer in HD over at the official Mission Impossible site.

Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol arrives in Australian cinemas December 15, 2011.

Discuss: Is there enough juice left in the M:I franchise?
