When Kevin Smith announced he would self-distribute his indie horror film Red State in the U.S. (screening the film state-by-state), we feared that it would be years before the flick arrived on Australian shores. Not so!
Distributor Curious Film has revealed that they will debut the film in Oz on September 22nd, 2011 (thanks for the heads up, DVDBits).
To steal from the official plot synopsis:
Red State begins by following three horny high-school boys who come across an online ad from an older woman looking for a gang bang. Boys being boys, they hit the road to satisfy their libidinal urges. But what begins as a fantasy takes a dark turn as they come face-to-face with a terrifying ‘holy’ force with a fatal agenda.
Michael Parks stars as that “terrifying ‘holy’ force”. He is joined by John Goodman and Oscar-winner Melissa Leo.
I’m the first to admit I’m a big Kevin Smith fan, but I’m really looking forward to this film. The trailer looks like nothing else he’s ever done.
