First image from The Cabin in the Woods

For a while there, it seemed like we would never see the Joss Whedon-penned, Drew Goddard-directed horror comedy The Cabin in the Woods. After studio MGM declared bankruptcy, the flick was shelved with no release in sight. That was almost two years ago. Finally, it looks like it is finally heading to cinemas.

Bloody Disgusting have the exclusive first image from the flick, which stars Chris Hemsworth, Anna Hutchison , Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford. It doesn’t reveal much, but BD reports that the script is full of fun surprises for fans of the slasher genre.

The site also shared a poster for the film, originally considered to be from Cannes but since revealed to be fan-made. Nice to look at nonetheless!

The Cabin in the Woods 3D arrives in the U.S. this October, with an Australian release to follow.
