Diablo Cody, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of Juno, has been hired by Sam Raimi‘s production company Ghost House to work on their remake of The Evil Dead.
According to a press release from Ghost House Pictures, Cody will rewrite the original draft of the screenplay penned by Fede Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues. Alvarez will direct the film.
Star of the original Evil Dead series, Bruce Campbell, will co-produce with Raimi and Rob Tapert.
Cody is no stranger to scary, having also written the script for the horror-comedy Jennifer’s Body. After the news was announced, Diablo took to Twitter to share her thoughts on the gig:
“Fede Alvarez wrote a brilliant script. My job is easy. Have no fear. (Wait, do have fear.)”
Why? It’s perfect as it is. I really wish they wouldn’t touch original movies.
Ashton Kutcher, would make a good ash ;-p
so not right. The original is still as scary as. Strange decision to remake.
