Paul Rudd to freeze people for Errol Morris

Paul Rudd will star in Errol Morris’ next feature film, where he’ll play a man who freezes humans.

Before you start picturing Rudd a-la Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Mr Freeze in Batman & Robin, The Washington Post confirms Rudd’s character will be less “You’re not sending me to the cooler” and more “Cryogenics 101”.

Rudd will play Bob Nelson, a TV repairman who decides to pursue his passion for cryonics; that is the freezing of humans for future regeneration. Think Walt Disney (unfortunately only an urban legend) or Austin Powers.

Morris, a renowned documentarian, has adapted the premise from “Mistakes Were Made”, a 2008 story on radio program This American Life, focusing on Nelson’s book We Froze the First Man.

With the help of the show’s host, Ira Glass, it will mark Morris’ first major non-documentary film; Stranger Than Fiction screenwriter Zach Helm is reported to also be on board.

Discuss: Keen to see Rudd team up with Morris?
