Teaser Debut: John Carter

The teaser trailer for Andrew Stanton‘s John Carter (formerly John Carter of Mars) has debuted online. It’s a good morning for trailers to movies that have had a title change

The Disney film marks Stanton’s first live-action feature, having previously helmed the Oscar winners WALL-E and Finding Nemo.

Taylor Kitsch stars as the eponymous Carter, who finds himself transported to Mars and caught in a battle between its people, one side led by Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the other by Princess Thoris (Lynn Collins).

Check out the teaser trailer and let us know what you think!

You can also watch in HD over at Apple.

John Carter arrives in Australian cinemas March 2012.

Discuss: Loving that cover of Arcade Fire’s My Body is a Cage that plays over the teaser. Now that is how you do good trailer music. In your face, Hugo!

  1. It is nowhere near true to the book – just from my viewing of the trailer

  2. looks like a cross btw Conan the Barbarian and StarWars. Amazing how Mars has atmosphere and the natives speak English. All very convenient. The trailer doesn’t convey the sense of wonder and possibility/suspended disbelief that the book manages.

  3. if you have iBooks you can download the entire series of books for free. I have second editions that I have read but did not want to touch, hence my re-reading the e book versions.

  4. Hey Jaundiced it sounds like you have read the books. If you have, would you agree that the cast should be wearing the same clothing as described in the books?
