The teaser trailer for Andrew Stanton‘s John Carter (formerly John Carter of Mars) has debuted online. It’s a good morning for trailers to movies that have had a title change!
The Disney film marks Stanton’s first live-action feature, having previously helmed the Oscar winners WALL-E and Finding Nemo.
Taylor Kitsch stars as the eponymous Carter, who finds himself transported to Mars and caught in a battle between its people, one side led by Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the other by Princess Thoris (Lynn Collins).

It is nowhere near true to the book – just from my viewing of the trailer
looks like a cross btw Conan the Barbarian and StarWars. Amazing how Mars has atmosphere and the natives speak English. All very convenient. The trailer doesn’t convey the sense of wonder and possibility/suspended disbelief that the book manages.
if you have iBooks you can download the entire series of books for free. I have second editions that I have read but did not want to touch, hence my re-reading the e book versions.
