Friday Night Lights may return to the big screen

From book to movie to TV show and back to movie. The evolution of the Friday Night Lights franchise is more complex than an elaborate football play.

The Emmy-nominated television program Friday Night Lights wrapped up over the weekend in the United States, but producer Peter Berg has hinted that there is still life in the series yet.

Berg – who directed the 2004 film that inspired the show (itself based on the 1990 book of the same name) – told Grantland‘s Bill Simmons that he would like to develop a movie off the back of the final episode featuring the show’s primary cast members.

Michael Ausiello at TVLine pressed Universal for details. The studio predictably responded by saying, “We do not currently have a FNL project in development.”

Still, plenty of sources have reiterated Berg’s desire to bring the series back to the big screen.

Discuss: Would you like to see a Friday Night Lights movie with the key cast from the TV show?
