It was only announced yesterday that Ron Howard‘s ambitious plans to adapt Stephen King’s seven-book series The Dark Tower had been nixed by Universal, yet the Oscar winning director already has another project in production.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Howard and producer Brian Grazer are set to bring Jon Krakauer’s novel Under the Banner of Heaven to the big screen.
The book tells the story of two fundamentalist Mormon brothers who killed the wife and daughter of their youngest brother. Krakauer also covers the history of Mormonism and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Warner Bros is attempting to secure the rights to the book, with Dustin Lance Black (Milk) set to write the screenplay.
Discuss: An intriguing project, or would you prefer Howard focus on revitalising The Dark Tower?
No one cares about Ron Howard because he sucks… unless it there was some kind of Happy Days reunion.
