Alex Proyas bringing Bradley Cooper to Sydney for Paradise Lost

Alex Proyas is set to film a big-budget sci-fi adaptation of John Milton’s legendary poem Paradise Lost, starring Bradley Cooperin Sydney.

According to Inside Film, the effects house Digital Domain will set up a local office in NSW to accommodate the project.

The project announcement was made by Proyas and acting NSW premier Andrew Stoner at Fox Studios Australia. They also revealed that the film will generate an estimated 1300 jobs.

Paradise Lost was written by Milton in the 17th century, and tells the biblical story of Adam and Eve being tempted by Satan in the Garden of Eden. Proyas’ take will see the story restructured as an action vehicle, although further details are not yet available.

Discuss: Could this mark a return of blockbuster projects to Australian shores? Our dollar has been a little too high in the past few years for American projects, and our tax breaks not as enticing…
