Geoffrey Rush returning for Pirates 5

Geoffrey Rush has confirmed he will indeed return as Barbossa in a fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

The patron of this year’s Melbourne International Film Festival, we spoke to Rush on the MIFF Opening Night red carpet. Although our chat was brief, we still managed to finagle a direct response from him regarding his willingness to return to the billion dollar franchise.

SM: Congratulations on Pirates this year. Very big. If asked, would you come back for a fifth film?

GR: Oh yes. I think that’s going to happen. There’s a scoop!

Hardly a signed contract, but considering that Pirates 5 seems like a certainty, it looks like you can chalk up the involvement of Mr. Geoffrey Rush.
