Teaser Debut: The Amazing Spider-Man

The teaser trailer for Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man has debuted online, offering us our first look at Andrew Garfield in action as Peter Parker/Spidey.

The teaser has arrived ahead of the director and cast’s appearance at San Diego Comic Con. Although many will recognise the familiar origins of the Marvel webslinger, already documented in Sam Raimi‘s Spider-Man (nerdy guy gets bitten by a spider yada yada), it’s important to note that Webb’s take is decidedly darker.

We’re intrigued to see whether the Spider-Man saga will work within the confines of a gritty, more realistic universe (note that his webs no longer shoot from his wrist, but rather mechanical devices on his arms).

Check out the trailer and share your thoughts below!

The Amazing Spider-Man 3D arrives in Australian cinemas July 4, 2012. It also stars Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen and Sally Field.

Discuss: Is the darker tone a welcome change?

  1. This looks great!! I can’t wait to see it!!!

  2. Look Mad!
The parents leaving in the beginning is a nice touch!
I hope this means that they will stick to the original story this time!
    THAT WOULD BE TUFF!!!
Already looking forward to the release now though!! 🙂

  3. I really love the way they did the camera work when he was gliding around the buildings…it’s a really smart way to get the audience to feel like they are actually flying themselves!! This is the way these types of films should be made. At first, when I heard that they were replacing Tobey for the role…I thought ..’Big mistake, it’s gonna suck and it won’t be the same without him’ ..but now after seeing this trailer…I’ve changed my mind! I don’t mind ‘The Darker tone’ to the movie…it’s a refreshing change!

  4. This looks awesome!!! Love the first person view of how spidey moves around…and in 3D it’s going to be spectacular. Have to put this near the top of my MUST SEE films in 2012. As for the darker, more realistic approach…bring it on! Just have a look at what happened with the recent Batman franchise. Can’t wait!!
