The first official images of Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron in character for Rupert Sanders’ Snow White and the Huntsman debuted at Comic Con over the weekend, and have made their way online for your visual pleasure (courtesy of Slashfilm).
As you can see from the above pic of Stewart as Snow White, Sanders is going for that dark, gritty look that’s so in right now. Below you can see Hemsworth as The Huntsman, and Charlize Theron as The Evil Queen.
Producer Joe Roth intends for Snow White and The Huntsman to be a trilogy. That all depends on how the film plays when it arrives in cinemas mid-2012.
Hard to say … the Snow White I grew up with never wore battle armour!!!
What’s This “Snow White” going Butch!!
the images look promising, but as a trilogy it’s hard to see what story with depth could come from such a simple fairy tale — the original version draws on the true story of Margarete von Waldeck, it would wonderful to incorporate some of that history; also the original version had no Huntsman, but the girl’s mother took Snow White to collect flowers and abandons her in the woods, where she was taken in by 7 thieves — the older stories offer suitably dark twists to the all-familiar modern children’s book.
It’s the authenitc story – not the commercialised Dysney version – the original folk tales are much darker that the watered down versions we were fed as kids…I would have picked Sam Worthington as the Hunter tho…!
Is this Twilight-esque like Red Riding Hood was? The dark concept has such potential but the whole lame romantic feel of Twilight just destroyed it. Secondly, I am not a Kristen Stewart fan at all. Is she going to be a sleepy looking Snow White throughout?
