Limitless director Neil Burger is in discussions to helm a remake of Arthur Penn‘s legendary New Hollywood flick Bonnie and Clyde.
According to Deadline, Burger is looking to team up with Up in the Air screenwriter Sheldon Turner for an even grittier take on the real-life Depression Era bank robbers.
The project is inspired by Jeff Gunn’s recently published novel Go Down Together: The True, Untold Story of Bonnie and Clyde, which claims Bonnie was a prostitute before she became an infamous criminal, while Clyde killed an inmate that had raped him in prison.
It is likely that Burger’s first priority will be the video game adaptation Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, so it might be a while before this one hits the screen.
