First look at Hutcherson and Hemsworth in The Hunger Games

It’s been a big few weeks for Hunger Games fans, with the release of the film’s teaser poster and our first official look at Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth as Peeta and Gale, courtesy of EW.

In these images, we see Peeta and Gale walking through the forest, Peeta outside his family’s bakery, holding the bread that he burnt so he could give it to Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence), and we see Gale and Katniss together during one of their hunting trips.

Any doubt that these two young actors could confidently fill these roles should be put to rest, but of course the big test is yet to come, when we finally see some footage.

The “burning” poster (which you can see in all of its glory here) shows the Mockingjay pin given to Katniss when she enters the Games; it represents a bird that can recall songs they’ve heard humans sing. The fire represents District 12, the mining district, and the fire used by Katniss’s stylist, Cinna, in the Opening Ceremony. The tagline, ‘May the Odds be Ever in Your Favour’ is also the official motto of the Games.
