Sex and the City prequel heading to TV?

Carrie Bradshaw could return to television screens, with a source close to the Sex and the City property claiming that a prequel show is in the works.

The news of a prequel was originally reported by The Daily Mail, but now the L.A. Times has some firmer information – namely, that the prequel will not be another movie, but rather a TV series.

The project would be inspired by SATC author Candace Bushnell books The Carrie Diaries and Summer in the City, which both concern Carrie’s exploits as a high schooler.

Sarah Jessica Parker, who played Bradshaw for six seasons and in two feature films, is not a fan of the prequel idea, stating:

“I don’t think we can pretend to go back … It’s creating two histories. It’s like, ‘Oh I didn’t know that about Carrie Bradshaw.”

Parker is holding out hope for a third Sex and the City film. Will either of these projects will eventuate? Who knows. But…

Discuss: Which would you rather see?

  1. Neither, they’ve sucked every last cent out of this franchise (just like they sucked all the substance out of the characters in the films) and should leave well alone. The last SATC film just spoilt everything.

  2. Have to agree, SATC 2 sucked eggs. I started watching but within the first 20 min when Carrie, Charlotte and everybody started moaning about EVERYTHING, switched it off and read a book! No more Sex please! Just let it die already.
