Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy are set to co-star in the new comedy ID Theft for Universal.
According to Deadline, Bateman will star as “a guy who gets his identity stolen” (it’s really all there in the title, isn’t it?). Although the premise originally called for another male actor to do the stealing, Bateman – who is also producing the flick – wanted McCarthy for the role after seeing her in Bridesmaids.
McCarthy is also set to co-star opposite Jon Hamm in an “unconventional love story”, with her Bridesmaids director Paul Feig and producer Judd Apatow at the helm.
The script for ID Theft comes from Steve Conrad. It is currently being rewritten by Craig Mazin.
