Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz and John C. Reilly show off all the colours of the emotional rainbow on the new poster for Roman Polanski‘s Carnage.
An adaptation of the French stage play God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza, the film concerns two sets of parents who meet to discuss an altercation between their children in the schoolyard. Although the adults begin conversing in a respectable manner, communication breaks down in spectacular fashion.
This darkly comic play has been a hit all over the world, attracting impressive ensembles to star in the four lead roles (actors have included Ralph Fiennes, Jeff Daniels, James Gandolfini, Janet McTeer, Marcia Gay Harden, Hope Davis, Lucy Liu, Dylan Baker and more). In 2009, it was named Best Play at the Tony Awards.
It looks as if Polanski’s film version has the most impressive cast of all. For those of you who aren’t excited about a bunch of actors sitting around talking (and eventually yelling) note that Polanski has recruited his Ghost Writer DOP Pawel Edelman and composer Alexandre Desplat to make the experience as cinematic as possible.
Carnage will debut at the Venice International Film Festival, with an Australian release to follow. Above images courtesy of Rope of Silicon.
I’ve seen the stage play and it is BRILLIANT! I’m VERY interested to see what this will be like on screen. Too cool!
