The Blues Brothers are getting their own Glee-esque TV show

As Aretha Franklin famously sang in John Landis‘ comedy classic The Blues Brothers: “You better think; think about what you’re trying to do to me.”

Variety reports Blues Brother Dan Aykroyd and Judy Belushi – the wife of his late partner John – are trying to set up a new TV show based around Jake and Elwood Blues.

Described as “‘Route 66’ meets ‘Glee'”, each episode would feature a musical number.

Aykroyd, former Saturday Night Live writer Anne Beatts, Wayne Catania and Keiron Lafferty have already written a pilot, which has Elwood Blues’ out of jail and looking for their real dad.

It is unknown if the pilot will get picked up for a full series. If it goes the way of Blues Brothers 2000, be sure to keep your expectations for new adventures low.

  1. hmm sounds good but, lets be honest blues Bro 2000 wasn’t anything near as good as original ,so lets hope this does original proud

  2. I think after the death of John Belushi they should have just leave it alone, they can’t do it justice without JB as was shown in The Blues Brothers 2000.

  3. Nice blokes who we remember as very energetic And bluesrolling singers loved by all blues addicts soul lovers.good rythmics crowd entertainers. With wow factor that’s unserpassed live music.
