In an interview with Collider, Sam Worthington has spoken effusively of James Cameron’s plans for the Avatar sequels, saying he’d do “2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and 10” of them back to back. Good natured exaggeration, sure, but if they keep making billions of dollars, Worthington may find himself locked in to these things for the rest of his life.
Although Worthington doesn’t share any particularly juicy details about the next two Avatar films, he does share his enthusiasm for the projects.
“Jim talked to me on my birthday. In regards to Avatar, he’s writing the bible at the moment, which is a precursor to Avatar 1 and the whole world, basically. I think it’s just to get Jim’s mind back into the characters and back into the world. He’s told me where he wants to take Avatar 2 and 3, and it’s monumental. It’s just huge! But, you’d expect nothing less from him. He’s not going to start it until he’s 100%. I know they’re setting up shop down in Manhattan Beach, and when he says jump, I jump.”
Head to Collider for the rest of the interview, where Worthington talks about how Jim Cameron has changed his life, his new movie The Debt, looking like Zach Galifianakis, and the promise of Clash of the Titans 2.
The tentatively titled Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 will hit cinemas December 2014 and December 2015 respectively.
