Director Joe Wright is set to reteam with his Atonement and Pride and Prejudice star Keira Knightley for an adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s legendary novel Anna Karenina.
According to Deadline, Knightley – who scored an Oscar nomination for P&P under Wright’s direction – will play the title character; a young married woman who has an affair with a handsome count.
Jude Law will appear as Anna’s husband Aleksei Karenin, while Kick-Ass‘ Aaron Johnson will star as the count. Emily Watson, Kelly Macdonalad and Olivia Williams have also been cast in the flick.
The film – scripted by Tom Stoppard – will be distributed by Universal Pictures International in Australia.
Yes. They work very well together. P&P & Atonement were excellent. As long as Keira doesn’t pout her way through the movie.
I love Joe Wright, but I honestly wish he had picked someone else for the role. Keira does not have very much range, and she’s not well suited to the part as she is. But who knows, maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised. 🙂
