Denzel Washington for Secret in their Eyes remake

It’s been almost a year since Warner Bros scored the remake rights for Juan Jose Campanella‘s Oscar-winning flick The Secret in their Eyes. Far from it being a low priority, the studio has offered the lead role to one of the world’s biggest stars.

According to Twitch, Denzel Washington has been asked to play the retired legal counselor who re-investigates a previously unsolved case (revisiting an unrequited love affair with a superior in the process).

Billy Ray (Shattered Glass, Breach) is set to write and direct the picture, while Campanella will produce.

The Secret in their Eyes was named Best Foreign Language Film at the 2010 Academy Awards.
