First look at 2011 Brisbane International Film Festival

An alien invasion flick, a rock-doco and a fleshy new Almodóvar feature are set to play at the 2011 Brisbane International Film Festival.

Announced today by Arts Minister Rachel Nolan on the official BIFF website, the festival will open on November 3 with Joe Cornish’s heavily buzzed about sci-fi comedy Attack the Block.

Festivities will come to a close on November 13 with Pedro Almodóvar’s The Skin I Live In, fresh from Cannes.

More than 100 other films will screen during the festival, including Talihina Sky: The Story of Kings of Leon (which will coincide with KOL’s Brisbane tour dates).

Although there are still a number of titles to be announced, tickets can be purchased from the BIFF website right now.

Discuss: BIFF is an awesome acronym, right?
