Aussie actor Liam Hemsworth has joined the cast of the upcoming blockbuster The Expendables 2, Variety reports.
There’s no word yet on what role Hemsworth will play, though he’s sure to bring his female Hunger Games fans with him to the franchise being kept afloat by an ensemble of 1980s action stars. Hemsworth will join Sylvester Stallone, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews and Randy Couture.
The film begins production soon in Bulgaria, with Simon West (Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, The Mechanic) taking the director’s chair from Sylvester Stallone, who helmed The Expendables back in 2010. The film will mark the feature debut for writer David Agosto while co-writer Ken Kaufman sees a shift from pervious screenplays (including Muppets from Space).
Other names rumoured to be joining this bulging cast are Nicolas Cage, Michael Biehn and John Travolta.
Hopefully they focus more on the story rather than just the action and actually can keep every body entertained, and not just people looking for some nostalgia. Nice post.
